More milestones
In just the past few days we've noticed Levi has reached his next milestone - rolling over! I wouldn't say he's exactly mastered it, but he's pretty close. He kicks his right leg out and rolls onto his left side. He usually just hangs out on his side, happily sucking at his hands, but a few times he has made it over to his stomach all by himself. He has yet to roll back over onto his back without some help from us (and a lot of frustrating grunting), but he doesn't seem too far off from that skill. We try to give him a lot of "tummy time" to help him develop those huge muscles and he's great at lifting his head and part of his chest up for short periods of time.
He also loves to sit (with support) and stare at his feet. He's just starting to seem to make the connection that his feet and hands are, indeed, his own!
Levi also is starting to reach for objects that we hold in front of him and a few times has grabbed on. He then loves to put whatever the object is in his mouth and chew, suck, chew, suck, chew chew chew! Grandma mentioned that both Mike and Dave were very early teethers, so we're wondering if Levi will follow suit. The drooling has definitely increased as well. Hmmm...
The one thing Mike and I are most impressed with is his ability to stand for even minutes at a time with us holding onto his hands. His strength is just amazing!
We have also recently tried putting him in his swing for daytime naps and it suddenly is working like a charm! (usually) He's graduated from his bear chair to his swing and it rocks him happily into lala land. He's peacefully sleeping in it right now.

Levi's first camping trip!!
We took Levi on a 3-night, 4-day camping trip to Buffalo Creek Recreation Area over Memorial Day weekend with Uncle Scott and Aunt Renee and, all in all, we've deemed it a success! He braved temperature fluctuations, annoying high winds and even babysitting Uncle Scott! Mom and Dad were able to enjoy several mountain biking excursions and we had a lot of fun playing rounds of "Wilderness Bocce Ball" around camp in the evenings. Levi spent a lot of time in our new "family tent" due to the high winds at times, but he was a real trooper and even slept well through all the nights. Although it was obviously a little more stressful for us than our old camping trips, it was a lot of fun and it felt great to expose Levi to this new experience. We hope he will grow to love camping as much as we do!

2 month checkup
Levi had his 2 month checkup at the doctor yesterday and Dr. Perry (whom we love!) gave him a hearty clean bill of health!
Here's his recent stats:
Weight: 11 lbs. 8.5 oz - 35%
Length: 23 in. - 40%
Head: 15.75 in. - 45%
We were a little concerned that the percentages were low, but Dr. Perry assured us that he's growing just fine. He was born in the 20% in all these areas, so for him to jump up to these percentages shows he's doing great! Mike and I decided some of our paranoia was due to the fact that all the babies we know recently are big and top out the charts on percentages.
We told Dr. Perry that Levi is visually tracking past the midline (he follows objects to 180 degrees) and he said that's actually a little more advanced for his age - most 2 month olds can only go 90 degrees, so his visual abilities are developing nicely.
Then came the hard part. The poor little guy had to endure his first set of immunizations - Five, yes FIVE, shots in the legs. Mike referred to it as a "baby mugging" because 2 nurses came in and poked him with 5 needles in record time - it was over within 5 seconds. Poor guy screamed like there was no tomorrow! I'm certainly glad they did it quickly because it was just as traumatic for Mike and me. He had two doses of tylenol to help the pain throughout the day and they warned that he might be fussy, but he just slept and slept. Today he seems to be back to his happy self.

Sleep!
Levi hit a milestone last night. He had a feeding at 11:00 pm and slept until his next feeding at 6:00 am! I heard him whimpering at around 4:00 am, but decided to see if he could stick it out. The next thing I knew I woke up to his crying at 5:45. It was the first night mom didn't have to get up to feed in the middle of the night. Whether Levi decides to make this a habit is, of course, entirely up to him, since he now runs the show around here, but it certainly made for a well-rested mother. And to think I used to believe 9 hours was a good night's sleep!
