Levi 2 year checkup!
Wow. What a big boy. Where has 2 years gone? We saw the amazing Dr. Perry (whom Levi, thanks to mom's prompting, has now deemed, "nice guy") for Levi's 2 year checkup and again has come away with a clean bill of health.
Here's his stats:
Weight - 27 lbs. 9 ounces - 45%
Height - 35" - 70%
Head - 19 5/8" - 77%
Dr. Perry said Levi is gaining weight great, so not to worry when, like the finicky toddler he is, he doesn't eat much. He guessed based on his current height that as an adult he'll be around 5'10", which I actually thought was a bit short given the height of his parents, but it is solidly average for an adult male.
We talked extensively with Dr. Perry about many behavior issues. Our main concern lately is Levi has seemed to develop a fearfulness of certain situations. A few things we've tried doing where Levi has cried, screamed and whined to go "home": a toddler birthday party at Gymboree, a show with Chinese acrobats (that lasted about 1 minute), the Barack Obama rally at DU, and just this week, the Butterfly Pavilion. And, of course, going to see Dr. Perry elicited a couple rounds of VERY intense screaming. Dr. Perry said fears around this age are completely normal and some kids just have more of it than others. It's probably also a bit intensified with Levi because it seems to be just part of his temperment - he's a thoughtful, observant kid. He is quite sensitive, but we're looking at it as a positive - we never have any concern about him being aggressive or bullying. He's just such a sweet little guy - it's almost hard to discipline him sometimes because of this!
So...besides that and other "normal" toddler issues, Levi is doing just spectacularly. He continues to be a rock start sleeper (of which we have always been grateful!) and is slowly also learning to play more independently at times which has lately been very helpful for mommy's sanity.
He's talking like crazy and we can tell he's really thinking hard and trying to put sentences together. He'll say things like "play cars please". It's just so darn cute. I got my hair done the other day and Mike taught him to say "pretty mommy" when I got home. I melted right there on the spot. He's just so much fun. Every day is an adventure.

Can we bore you with our home movies?
None of these are Oscar-worthy, but they are all brief, and give a glimpse into "a day in the life"...
Roll over CJ!
Giggle! ("I'm gonna get you!")
Toddler virtuoso...
Filming and kind of helping little brother...
It's hard being a baby...

Happy 2nd Birthday for Levi (quietly to not freak him out)

A few snapshots!
The boys.

Like we did with Levi, we have started saying to CJ "I think you've reached the apex of your cuteness!"

CJ and his favorite non-human. (CJ does seem really drawn to Bailey, watching him walk around and stroking his fur, and only rarely doing the "clutch and yank"; Bailey stays quite patient with it all.)

Levi had an awesome 2nd birthday party with many good friends! We didn't get a lot of photos that turned out well, but this photo captures a nice moment where Dan C helps draw Levi out of a shy moment and draws a horde of kids like the Pied Piper --- clockwise, starting at the top: Levi, Dan, Ava, Gib, Lulu, and Cooper.

Valentine's Day
Another triumphant leap into Big Boydom
We had been preparing Levi for quite awhile that when he turned 2 we were going to say "bye bye" to his beloved mimis (aka pacifiers). However; we got so tired of the rash around his lips caused by the darn things, that Mike and I decided to just do it now. So we had a big "celebration" with Levi and boxed up all his mimis; wrapped up the box and addressed it to Santa. In exchange, and because he was so proud of him being a big boy, Santa had a nice little gift for Levi - a cool new matchbox car. Mike and I thought we would have a HUGE battle for several weeks over the issue. Levi went to bed that evening without ANY fuss and has now been successfully mimi-free for 9 straight nights!!! There have only been a few instances where he has asked for them and we just remind him that "Santa has them now". We are just unbelievably proud of our boy and how he has handled this major transition. He continues to amaze us. This picture also captures his own pride beautifully.

Multi-word phrases!
Levi can officially string 2 words together!
Today, he and mommy had to wait to go to a play date until CJ woke up from his nap. Levi was getting anxious, so we were again explaining that he had to wait until... and at that point Levi finished the thought with "CJ up!" (of course it sounded a little more like "see-say up!")
Today he also said "blue ball" and "milk please", but we are counting "CJ up!" as his first real sentence!

Movie time!! Catching up on new and old ones...
Hoops!!
Levi drains some 3-pointers
Watching "IU" play "hoops"
Levi keeps practicing long after everyone else has left the gym...
CJ chatting
CJ tummy time, refusing to obey orders
Kitty anatomy #1 ("meow", ???, "ear", "hi", "please")
Kitty anatomy #2 ("paw", "tail", "meow")
A really old one from x-mas eve. (The "blowing a kiss" motion is sign language for "thank you".)

Levi's first haircut
CJ - 4 month checkup
CJ had his 4 month checkup with Dr. Perry last week and received another clean bill of health! Here's his latest stats:
Weight - 13 lbs. 15 oz. - 30%
Height - 25.75" - 80%
Head - 16 3/8" - 30%
Of course, as I write this, CJ has been battling a respiratory infection for the past 4 days (brought home by big brother, Levi, of course) He had a quick appt. with Dr. Perry this morning and the ear infection diagnosed on Friday has already almost entirely cleared up on its own (we chose to hold off on antibiotics and we're now glad we did!) He still has a little cough and congestion, but is definitely on the upswing.
Unfortunately Levi's illness 2 weeks ago caused us to cancel our trip to visit the cousins in Kansas, and CJ's recent illness caused Jen to miss her ultimate frisbee tournament last weekend in Arizona. It's been a bummer couple of weeks and we're feeling a little crazy being cooped up in the house with sick children! UGGHHH!
We are patiently awaiting this cold/winter season to pass us by and hopefully by April the weather will be consistently nicer and the kids will be consistently healthy.
