Wow. Has it already been 15 months? Time sure does fly when you're having fun! Levi had another visit with our amazing pediatrician, Dr. Perry and again received a clean bill of health!!
Here's his latest stats:
Weight: 23 lbs. 0.5 oz. 25% (svelte little guy, but gaining weight just fine)
Height: 32 1/2 in. 85%
Head 19 in. 80%
We have talked with Dr. Perry extensively about Levi's feeding issues and we all feel he is definitely making progress. We haven't had a "vomiting episode" in several weeks and he seems to be learning to chew more. We hope his "sensitive gag reflex" is starting to wane. He has two bottom molars in now and that seems to be helping with the chewing. He's now interested in small pieces of bread and small crackers and cheerios, but only one at a time. When given free rein, he doesn't quite know to stop shoving them in his mouth before chewing up the ones already in there!! Also, the other day Mike was eating a banana and he seemed interested and took a bite. Since then we've now incorporated bananas into his diet - we just peel it and he takes bites at his leisure. He can suddenly point to bananas in books now too! He's also starting to take the spoon himself and scoop and feed himself, although after awhile he whines because he prefers mommy to feed him, of course.
Levi is still not talking with definitive words, but it's obvious his cognitive awareness of verbal language is strong, so Dr. Perry's not worried and thinks it should happen in the next few months. He seems so close! He's VERY enthralled with any kind of truck or big machinery. We've been pointing out dump trucks, garbage trucks, steamrollers, bulldozers, tractors, etc., to him in all his books. He'll point to a vehicle and say "tatoor" - it sounds so much like he's trying to say "tractor"!
He has a lot of skills and can perform many of them on demand, such as clapping, spinning, stomping his foot, pointing to various things (especially facial features - daddy's nose, mouth, eyes and even neck!) A neat thing we've discovered is that we'll ask him to go get something, like a certain book, and he'll follow our command very well. One day his books were stacked against the wall and I said "Go get Mike Mulligan and his Steam Shovel" and Levi walked over to his books, methodically searched through the pile and pulled out Mike Mulligan and brought it to me. Every day he seems to do something new that amazes us. It's such a joyride.
